Thirty-three years in, April describes her job in seven words: she takes care of people and brings them to their next chapter. What she is chasing, every time, is the moment a client’s shoulders come down and they realise everything is going to be all right. She gets there with a mix of good old-fashioned reality and a dash of humour, which turns out to be exactly what most people need in the worst year of their life.

She interned for a family lawyer in law school, clerked for a family court judge after graduation, drank the kool-aid and never looked back. A colourful series of life events eventually brought her to Netsquire, and she says she could not be happier or more grateful to be here.

Clients tell her they feel prepared and protected. Her colleagues point to how deeply she cares about the people around her and how much life experience she brings to a case. Around the office she is known, quite simply, for celebrating life.

April earned a BS in International Trade and Marketing from SUNY FIT in 1988, in the heart of Manhattan, including a Hong Kong internship only two students were chosen for. She went on to a JD from Seton Hall Law in 1992, where she served as an Associate Editor of the Law Review. That one she counts among her proudest accomplishments, because she arrived as a fashion marketing major surrounded by law students, felt completely out of place, and knew the one thing she could do was write. So she wrote. She was later named Mentor of the Year and a Law Journal professional excellence honoree, which mattered to her because she loves to teach and to help other people be their best. She is a certified mediator and parenting coordinator.

April grew up in upstate New York, in the Borscht Belt, which she suggests you simply picture as Dirty Dancing. She lives in Somerset County with her fourth child and fur baby, Simba, and spends her off hours rewatching her favourite shows on repeat. One of these days she intends to see the country from an RV.
